By using a two-metre folding rule, Saâdane Afif has created a variable sculpture that is set in bright yellow. The limited edition of 100 copies, is presented in a box signed by the artist. Afif has dispensed the inscriptions on the measuring tool, thus depriving it of its actual purpose. As already indicated by the title, the sculpture – somewhere between toy and tool – allows a multitude of design possibilities and turns the object of daily use into a variable wall object, which is largely determined by its owner.
